Alan Roger Davies ( day-viss; born 6 March 1966) is an English stand-up comedian, writer and actor. He has played the title role in the BBC mystery drama series Jonathan Creek since 1997. He has been a permanent panellist on the BBC panel show QI from 2003, only missing one episode in the D series because he did not want to miss his favourite football team, Arsenal, playing in the Champions League final the evening of recording (wikipedia)
